Meet the Truants, part 4: Irina.

Now for the final entry in the Truants design series!  When Nick told me about Zoe’s ultimate fate when we were in Seattle in March, I was kind of speechless.  Zoe’s always been my most popular character in regards to original art and commissions!  He assured me though that Irina would more than make up for Zoe.  I think he might have been right, judging from reaction thus far!

His description of her was that she was tough looking—that she should look like she’s been surviving in the woods for awhile.  I went with more earth tones in her attire so she could blend in to the forest.  Her facial structure and hair were heavily influenced by Amanda Seyfried’s appearance in the film, In Time.  I must admit I had concerns about going with black hair and a haircut with bangs, since those are prominent features on Zoe.  I do approach drawing their faces differently, so hopefully that will help.  As well, there was the issue of Akiko (who, if you’ve been reading these posts, was designed in June 2009) and her similar bob hair style.  I’ve made Akiko’s hair shorter and pointier (kind of anime-ish) and Irina’s rounder and longer.  Always fun juggling this kind of stuff!
